I’ve always wondered what Harry and Ginny’s relationship was like when they were married. Due to Harry’s past, I have a feeling he might be slightly emotionally abusive towards her. That would explain why she had no say in her kids names. They may have been happy, but I don’t know if he ever treated her like an equal. And based on the way they grew up, I don’t think either would have noticed.
I agree so much! I think he would be subtly abusive emotionally to her, and she wouldn’t really notice as it chipped away at him. She probably would have reacted negatively to the names, saying they should move on from the past, and he would have lashed out verbally forcing her to comply with the names. He would suggest things for her that remind him of his mother, like clothes or a hairstyle he saw in photographs. Over time she would realise that he married her because she reminded him of his mother, who he still pines for, and she would try to split up from him. He would retaliate, never physically though, as he couldn’t hurt his mother who he loves so desperately, but when she leaves him he would be emotionally scarred even more than he already was, and probably spiral into a drinking binge. If he hadn’t already dragged his family to live in Godric’s Hollow, he would go there after she left, drinking and mourning until he either dies or Ginny decides to go back to him.
Pretty much, his home life spirals out of control as his family realises that he’s an emotional wreck. And his friends would probably try to support him, saying that Ginny just wasn’t happy, but when she leaves him she tries to find help with Ron, and he and Hermione realise how badly off Harry is.
That’s pretty morbid, but I think that realistically that’s the only way that Harry would live. Maybe he had more of a revelation than that with the resurrection stone, but I think that he will forever pine after his mother.
